Blues Guitar Riff Using 3rds

Here’s a blues guitar riff that is perfect for practicing over top of guitar backing tracks.

This particular blues guitar riff is based on 3rds, which is one of the most appealing intervals to the ear. The most common harmonies are based on thirds, and thirds sound incredible in solos too. So, it stands to reason that it is worthwhile learning how to play the thirds on your guitar!

I recommend watching this video through to learn the blues guitar riff, then practice it using a backing track.

I really like learning & playing metallica songs on guitar, but it kinda erritates me when I don’t get the right sound out of my marshall mg30fx. What amp would be good for playing metallica songs at home, and getting a good sound?
